About the awarding organization
The Green Building of the Year special prize is awarded as part of the Építőipari Nívódíj (Construction Industry Excellence Award) organized by ÉVOSZ with professional support from the Hungarian Chamber of Architects and other key industry bodies. This award honors buildings that excel in environmental responsibility and sustainable performance.

The selection process
Each year, ÉVOSZ invites top-tier construction projects throughout Hungary for evaluation. The jury assesses submissions in categories including architecture, technical quality, sustainability, and innovation. The Green Building of the Year special prize is granted to the project that best exemplifies green design excellence.
Our role in the awarded project
While the Corvinus University Gellért Campus was honored with the Green Building of the Year special prize in 2024, Equinox played a pivotal role as the sustainability consultant for this landmark project. Our contributions included:
- LEED sustainability consultancy, delivering advanced analyses such as IES-LM-83-12 daylight simulations, detailed energy modeling per ASHRAE 90.1, dynamic weather-based performance evaluations, and onsite renewable energy assessments.
- Advising on improving the building envelope, including enhanced airtightness, added thermal insulation, and design of a triple-layer aluminum curtain wall system with adjustable windows and automated exterior blinds.
- Supporting the integration of advanced MEP systems—ground-source heat pumps, radiant ceiling panels, fan-coil units, and the incorporation of air-source heat pumps via air handling units for heating, cooling, ventilation, and hot water systems. These efforts directly supported the building’s goal of achieving LEED Gold certification and its recognition for sustainability leadership.
